What training and development will I receive?
Training and development of our graduates is very important to us. Everyone who joins our Academy Programme has the same aim of becoming accredited with the most appropriate professional body. You will receive assistance in setting up your training agreements.A large proportion of the learning during the programme will be on-the-job with real hands on technical projects and responsibility. However alongside this experience we will help you make the transition from study to business with dedicated structured courses e.g. commercial and financial awareness and presentation skills. We hold Learning Forums to allow networking and to further enhance your skills and we also provide you with access to online learning programmes. At the end of your 18 month programme you will be able to attend a Development Centre, designed to highlight your strengths and areas for development. The output is an agreed development plan to maximise your potential for your future career at Mouchel.

Does Mouchel employ graduates requiring work permits?
We welcome applications from all suitably qualified graduates and we will attempt to apply for a work permit on your behalf if you are not an EU citizen and we wish to employ you. However, bear in mind that the government rather than Mouchel makes decisions on such applications and we cannot guarantee success. Eventual employment with Mouchel in the UK, as with all companies, is dependent on a work permit. There are a small number of roles that have restrictions on who can be appointed, due to UK government security clearance requirements. It is the individual’s responsibility to obtain leave to remain or entry clearance once the work permit has been approved as per The Home Office’s recommendations. Please visit www.workingintheuk.gov.uk for more details.

Does Mouchel offer industrial/summer internships?
We have a variety of paid summer and industrial internships which are advertised online. You will need to submit an online application in order to be considered for these positions, which are usually advertised from January onwards. Internships are available in nearly all our functions and can take place in most of our offices. Our preference is to offer internships to penultimate year students or students who will return to university or college or school after their experience with us. We advise that you apply as early as possible for summer internships to avoid disappointment. Summer internships in the UK business are for 2-3 months and industrial placements are 6 months to a year depending on the role and project. During your internship you will work on a real live project whilst gaining an insight into our overall business. You will be expected to make a real contribution to the day-to-day operations of your team. An internship is your opportunity to understand our company culture and our way of functioning. It is your opportunity to immerse yourself in a project and a profession and is your chance to see how you feel about Mouchel as a potential employer while you gain valuable professional experience.

Are there any vacancies overseas?
Most of our vacancies are based in the UK, although there are sometimes opportunities for you to work overseas on a particular project. The opportunities are performance-related and many of our graduates have taken these opportunities in the past. There may also be the opportunity to rotate projects within your business unit after 9 months.

Can I make more than one application and can I re-apply if I’ve been rejected?
It is not recommended to make multiple applications as our system will recognise you. If you have gained more experience or skills since your last application, you are welcome to apply again one year later. However, if you do not feel that your profile will have changed significantly then we must advise you the result may be the same.

Can you tell me about my likely career progression?
We regard our Academy Affiliates as our future leaders of tomorrow and therefore we recruit them in order to fill our future senior management vacancies. As an example, one of our current Directors was a graduate trainee 22 years ago. Many options are open to you – including several listed below:
-
Progress within your function in the UK Business - as far and as fast as your talent takes you.
-
Cross-functional move - through interfacing with the rest of the business - you may be able to pursue a career within a different field.
-
Move Internationally - recruits with particular flair and business talent - an International career is a possibility.
How long do Academy Affiliates stay with the organisation on average?
It varies a great deal. Most Academy Affiliates don’t leave until they have been with the company for around three years – that’s when they tend to review their career direction. Compared to the industry average, our retention of Academy Affiliates over the longer term is excellent.

These roles will suit those who are more commercially-minded who want to focus on the bigger picture and can excel when dealing with clients.
