Somewhere you can go far
The Mouchel Academy has been newly restructured for this year's intake, so it's an exciting time to be joining us. Mouchel Academy is designed to take into consideration three different educational levels, all of which are eighteen month schemes. The training is tailored to your level and will endeavour to give you the skills and confidence to make your experience at Mouchel a valuable and fulfilling one.
Regardless of which 'stream' you enter, all affiliates receive a three day induction which not only introduces you to the programme structure, but also kick-starts your learning through fundamental skills development. We hope that the initial structured training provided will help you make the transition from study to business.
Graduate Academy Programme
This programme encompasses both Graduates and Masters levels joining the Programme in October 2008.
Whilst settling into your new role, you will have the opportunity to network with your intake and share knowledge through Learning Forums, organised by you and your fellow affiliates.
After six months with us, you will receive a six month review designed to check your progress in the role and your development needs. This is a great way to reflect on where you are in the role, your development needs, and to celebrate your achievements.
After nine months with us, you'll have the opportunity to either attend a Learning School or some 1 day workshops dependant upon your performance which focus on client-facing 'soft' skills designed to help you make a positive impact in your role and on your team.
It is expected that the majority of you will choose to study toward chartership and as part of the Programme, you will become accredited with the most appropriate professional body. You will also receive assistance from us in setting up your training agreements as well as support to help you make that all important institutions choice.
Technicians Academy Programme
Starting with us in October 2008, Technicians will receive similar training to Graduates, Learning Forums, six month reviews, either/or Learning School and workshops with the focus being on a more technical route. Our Business ensures that any technical training needs are addressed and policies are in place if you wish to study toward a professional qualification.
Apprentices Academy Programme
Designed for school leavers, this programme kicks off in October 2008. You will receive Learning Forums, six month reviews, either/or Learning School and workshops and will receive additional support from a mentor and from your school leaver network. The forums will build a 'sense of belonging' and a support network for you. We are keen to create an environment where you feel part of the Mouchel Academy and somewhere you belong.
Toward the end of your Academy Programme and Beyond
Toward the end of your 18 month programme, a Development Centre for all levels is held which is intended to highlight your strengths and areas for development. It is a real opportunity to see your skills in action in a fun and diverse way and, soon after, an agreed development plan is created to maximise your potential.
During and beyond your programme, we offer a number of resources to give you the support and confidence you need to forge ahead in the organisation. There are a number of self-learning resources, relevant to The Academy, which are accessible through our Learning and Development intranet pages. Also, through the Learning Forums, your line manager, mentor support, the Graduate Development Team, and your work colleagues, you will have a great deal of support from which to draw on to help you become the best you can be.
Career development
Everyone who joins our Academy Programme will have the opportunity to work towards becoming professionally qualified.
As you'd expect from a company that's listed on the London Stock Exchange, we're accredited by all the major professional bodies, from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), to the Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) and the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management.
